ISSO PDAF Application (MS Word) Mail to: UH-AEROSPACE POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM **Notice** Each Post-Doctoral Aerospace Fellow will conduct part of his or her research activities at the NASA Johnson Space Center under the direction of the university investigator and the JSC investigator (JSC Team Leader). Each fellow must obtain a badge from JSC in order to work at JSC. In all cases, the badge request must be initiated by the JSC Team Leader of the project-team that is extending the fellowship award. United States citizens normally complete the badging process in a few hours at the Security Office at NASA-JSC. We require that the foreign nationals seeking to participate in this program contact the JSC Team Leader in advance of being hired by the University of Houston or the University of Houston-Clear Lake. The foreign national must provide the JSC Team Leader a completed NAME CHECK REQUEST form. That form is on the ISSO website. The JSC Team Leader will provide a list of information that the applicant must provide in advance of being hired by the University of Houston or the University of Houston-Clear Lake. This information will be used to determine access privileges to JSC facilities. Review and approval for the foreign national JSC access badge can sometimes require 3-6 months. There is also a possibility that a badge can not be approved by the Foreign Visitor Coordinator at JSC. If access to JSC is not approved then the candidate can not be hired for the Post-Doctoral Aerospace Fellowship. All hiring of foreign nationals by the University of Houston or the University of Houston-Clear Lake will be in compliance with the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986. IRCA requires all new foreign national employees to present documentation proving identity and authorization to work in the United States. The applicant must provide documentation that proves his or her right to work in the United States. A foreign national who holds any type of United States visa and IS FROM A NON-DESIGNATED NATION must provide the visa information to JSC in advance of being hired by the University of Houston or the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Review and approval for the JSC badge can require approximately three weeks. There is a possibility that a badge can not be approved by the Foreign Visitor Coordinator at JSC. If access to JSC is not approved then the candidate can not be hired for the Post-Doctoral Aerospace Fellowship. A foreign national who holds any other type of United States visa and IS FROM A DESIGNATED NATION must provide the visa information to JSC in advance of being hired. Review and approval for the JSC badge can require two to three months. Each applicant is considered on a case-by-case basis. It is possible that the badge can not be approved by the International Relations office at NASA Headquarters. If access to JSC is not approved then the candidate can not be hired for the Post-Doctoral Aerospace Fellowship. If a fellow has a NASA Approved Clearance (NAC) from another NASA center then the badging process is expedited. |
